Fakhri Man’tik

.
Age: 310 (look in the 40s)
Race: Viera | Ethnicity: Veena - Hríð tribe
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral | Occupation: Oracle - Con Artist
Orientation: Who fucking knows | Marital status: Very happy
.
APPEARANCE
Like all Viera, Fakhri doesn’t look his age. Granted the somewhat deeper lines on his visage and the pockets under his eyes may betray his years upon Hydaelyn; It’s mostly the fatigue of one who has travelled much and seen the best, and the worse, humanity has to offer. His ashen skin and gray hair and beard probably don’t help either, paired with pale, grayish eyes with barely a hint of blue. At 5’8, he’s your average male Viera, topped by shortish ears. Despite his bad life habits, the man still retains his lean archer’s body.
Voice aesthetic: Deep, bass baritone, gravelly
Peyton Parrish, voice claim, just chef kiss
Chuck Ragan / Matthew Mayfield, very close second choices, especially for their Southern American English accent
PERSONALITY
Fakhri can be rather direct and, quite frankly, annoying as hell sometimes. But he can also be extremely caring. He’s a living representation of many vices, finding some temporary escape from his own mind in alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and gambling, to name only those. Truth is, he hides a great deal of pain under that rough exterior. Sometimes the mask crack, revealing a bit of what’s underneath; he’s not as bad as he makes others believe, and far more clever and intelligent than he looks.
COMBAT ABILITY
Despite his lazy attitude and the fact he sees the bottom of a bottle quite often, Fakhri still has centuries of experience under his belt. Regardless that he'll prefer to flee, smooth talk or stand down instead of fight; he's still trained with bow, daggers and spear, and retains the muscle memory of years of training, hunting beasts and monsters regularly. However, he has adapted to the urban life and, paired with his habit to flee rather than fight, he's become a master at what's been called 'parkour'. Furthermore, he recently decided to give that Blue Magik a try and he’s proven quite skilled at it. If this new skill will have applications outside of conning people of their money is another story entirely.

The Past || VERY far back would be his tribe in the Skatay Range, which trades a lot with the nearby tribes. A more 'recent' past however are the 78 years he lived in turns in Rabanastre or Radz-at-Han, until the conquering of Dalmasca by the Garleans in 1547. He'll then be in Hingashi for roughly 10 years before traveling Eorzea for the past 25 years.
The underworld || Fakhri is far from being a respectable Viera. His time spent with humanity made him take on a lot of their vices - drinking, smoking and gambling. And this all lead to debts (before he became quite good at that cheating game) and mixing with the wrong kind of people. He fled Hingashi because he got into trouble with the Yakuza, for instance. He's also probably in hot water with some gambling rings and drug dealers in both Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa. But maybe you were on the 'receiving end' as he's quite a skilled con artist. Furthermore, he recently returned to Thavnair, joining with an organization known as the Guild of Owls or Jijivisha, and is thus very well known in the poorer districts of Radz-at-Han as a benevolent figure and the Sahib's man on the ground. The Blue Oracle || With his 'gift' - or rather his curse - of clairvoyance, Fakhri will often find a quiet corner in any city and sell his service as an oracle. He carries with him a rather nice deck of cards and, despite being a self-proclaimed con artist, a lot of his readings do offer true insight. He's also a Blue Mage and performs feats of magic to earn a few coins. The musician || A master pianist, guitarist and singer, Fakhri compose his own music and performs in many small establishments all over the world, as the fancy strikes or if he's been invited. While he wishes to remain an 'underground artist' rather than the next pop star, some may have had the pleasure of listening to one of his performance.Well traveled || From the Skatay Range to Dalmasca and Thavnair, fleeing through Nagxia and Yanxia to end up in Hingashi. A boat ride many years later will deliver him to Aldenard, where he'll get well acquainted with the southernmost nations (The Black Shroud, Mor Dhona, Thanalan) as well as Vylbrand's La Noscea. He still frequently travel, for pleasure or to 'get rid of some problems'.Never say no to a drink || If anyone was to offer him a drink, he'd rarely refuse. Same for a good meal, or a pack of cigarettes. You know, the good stuff in life.

This old viera has met many souls over the centuries of his life and, while many were trying to get their hands on this rascal to make him pay for making a fool out of them, a handful left a mark upon his heart - a good one. With those few individuals, he forged bonds of friendship and love, as companions and family. Those that have passed shall be left to their peace, living in his memories; The bonds he has in the present are those worth mentioning.
His girl
The strong-willed and witty woman is nothing less than his light in the darkness; where she goes, he goes... or vice versa. He doesn't really know anymore, so intertwined as they are. In both work and life, they now walk upon the same path.
A child
Born on the same nameday as his father, Fjúk [Fee-you-k] is his pride and joy. Of mixed heritage, the child's gender was obvious from birth, sporting his father's ears and gray eyes, with his mother's curly red hair and freckles. To keep with the custom of Fakhri's tribe, the parents have opted to keep the boy's true name a secret, giving him the public name of Ayaz.
A rat
He didn't chose the rat, the rat chose him. Unaware of his true nature, Fakhri regards Arak as a cherished member of his family, nothing less. Quite aware the rodent is above the usual intelligence of his specie, he merely shrugs it off and accepts his small companion as he is. While Arak is remarkably independent, he always comes back to Fakhri.
The Sahib
A chance encounter that saved his life, a man with the power to soothe both mind and body; truly, Fakhri couldn't have hoped for more from his employer. Needless to say, he trust the leader of Jijivisha with his very life and consider him a dear friend and confidant.

Personal RP Limit
I roleplay the whole spectrum of dark and mature themes. I do not, however, do so without good communication and without anything leading to it; ERP for the sake of ERP will be ignored, and I will not maim, severely injure or have my character imprisoned for long periods without prior consent. I extend the same courtesy to those I RP with. If there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed, I’ll respect those boundaries.
Lore-abiding
I try to stick to the lore as best I can but I'm open to head-canon and lore bending when the lore is lacking or it goes into gray territory. With that in mind, yes, Fakhri is old. I go with the info we have from Almet from the First: "We Viis would easily live to see three of your elven lifetimes." Emphasis on easily; in my book they can easily live 360 years and may surpass it.
I will not RP with characters that are Ascian, from the First, Fae folks, THE WoL, etc. I have no problems with anyone who likes and want to RP any of the above, and I encourage you to with other like-minded roleplayers.Style
One word to describe the way I RP and DM: realistic. It means, in essence, that IC actions have IC consequences, and that my characters are not on the scale of 'anime characters' when it comes to their skills/powers. 'Realistic' also extend to things like the passage of time and the limitations of magic.
I have nearly 25 years of RP experience, I’m a para roleplayer and English is not my native tongue. So be ready to wait 5-7 min for a post, but it’ll be a 1 to 2 paragraphs novel xD I’ve been told that my post are worth the wait, something you’ll have to decide for yourself.Availability
I'm on the Crystal datacenter (Balmung), EST and usually available between 6 pm to 10 pm; weekends varies widely. I prefer to schedule RP sessions in advance. This also means be on time when RP is scheduled, and I can't stress this enough. Out of respect for you, I aim to be on time and available, please show me the same courtesy. I'm in my mid 40s, working a full-time job as a paralegal and I get home tired quite often, yet I always honor all RP appointments.
